What Is Daxxify?

Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is a prescription injectable neuromodulator made with botulinum toxin type A. According to current FDA labeling, Daxxify is approved for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (the vertical frown lines between the brows) in adults. Daxxify is also approved for the treatment of cervical dystonia in adults, though that is a therapeutic, non-cosmetic indication.

What Makes the Daxxify Formulation Different?

Daxxify uses a proprietary peptide (called RTP004) as part of its formulation. According to the manufacturer and FDA prescribing information, Daxxify is stabilized with this peptide rather than with human serum albumin or animal-derived proteins, which are used in some other botulinum toxin products.

The peptide is part of the product's formulation chemistry — it is not the same thing as the peptide therapies discussed elsewhere in regenerative and wellness medicine. The peptide in Daxxify does not regenerate collagen, improve skin independently, rejuvenate tissue, or deliver systemic wellness benefits. Daxxify's pivotal clinical trials — the SAKURA studies — reported a median duration of approximately 24 weeks (roughly 6 months) for glabellar lines. This is longer than the typical duration commonly associated with Botox Cosmetic, which is often described in the range of approximately 3–4 months.

However, it is critical to understand what "median duration" actually means. A median is a population-level statistic: it means that in the trial, half of patients maintained their result for less than 24 weeks, and half maintained it for longer. The range of individual responses was wide — some patients saw results begin to fade sooner, while others maintained improvement well beyond the median.

We do not translate population-level trial findings into a promise for an individual patient. We do not guarantee "6 months" or any specific duration for Daxxify or Botox. Your individual duration depends on treatment area, dose, anatomy, muscle activity, metabolism, and treatment plan.

What Does "Lasts Longer" Actually Mean?

Duration can be measured in different ways, and the measurement method affects what the number means:

• Time until effect begins to decline — when movement or lines first start to return.
• Time until return toward baseline — when the effect has largely worn off.
• Investigator-assessed response — a clinician's rating of whether improvement is still present, used in clinical trials.

Does Duration Matter More for a First-Time Neuromodulator Patient?

Not automatically. A patient trying neuromodulators for the first time may value:
